PRIVACY
Your data is yours.
Rubyademy is an independent project built to help people learn how to create and own software. That philosophy extends to how your information is treated.
What I collect
I try to collect as little information as possible.
When you create an account, Rubyademy stores the information needed to operate your account, such as your email address, password digest, course progress, and membership status.
Payments
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe.
Rubyademy does not store your full credit card number. Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy and security practices.
Analytics
Rubyademy uses Google Analytics to understand basic website traffic and how visitors use the site.
This may include information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, traffic source, and general interaction with the website.
Rubyademy does not intentionally send your name, email address, password, payment card information, or other directly identifying account information to Google Analytics.
Analytics is used to understand how Rubyademy is discovered and how the website can be improved.
Email updates
If you choose to subscribe to Rubyademy updates, your email address is provided to Kit, which is used to manage email subscriptions and send updates and announcements.
You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in the email.
I don't sell your data
Your personal information is not for sale.
Rubyademy does not sell your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or other companies.
Why we use your information
Information is used to run Rubyademy: maintaining your account, remembering your course progress, managing your membership, providing support, protecting the service, understanding website traffic, and improving the learning experience.
Service providers
A small number of outside services are used when necessary to operate Rubyademy, including Stripe for payments, Kit for email updates, Google Analytics for website analytics, infrastructure providers for hosting and delivery, and video providers for course content.
The goal is to keep this list small and use services because they help operate the product, not because your information is a product.
Data integrity
I care deeply about keeping your information accurate, secure, and limited to what Rubyademy actually needs.
No internet service can promise perfect security, but the application is built with the intention of collecting less data rather than finding more reasons to collect it.
Your account
If you have a question about your information or want to request the deletion of your account and associated personal information, contact me using the email at the bottom of this page.
Changes
If this policy materially changes as Rubyademy grows, this page will be updated.
